The government is set to inspect schools to check compliance with health protocols, including prohibition of playgrounds and cafeteria buffets as well as establishment of separate entry and exit points, in case limited face-to-face classes are allowed to resume.
Presidential peace adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. said schools must implement measures aimed at limiting the close contact of students to curb any transmission of coronavirus disease.
“Sa MGCQ sir, gawin po natin muna siguro iinspekin natin ‘yung eskuwelahan, ano ang configuration, anong puwedeng gawin at saka hindi pupuwedeng gawin (In modified general community quarantine areas, we will probably inspect the schools, the configuration on what must be done and what must not be done),” Galvez, also chief implementer of the government’s action plan against the coronavirus spread, said during a meeting with President Duterte and other officials Wednesday night.
Playgrounds in schools must be closed to curb any spread of the disease among students, according to Galvez.
“Una, dapat walang pong playground. Kasi po pagka may playground, magkakaroon po ng tinatawag na close contact at saka mayroon po tayong tinatawag na ano — na possibility na magkaroon ng transmission because of maba-violate po ‘yung social distancing (First, there should be no playgrounds because if there are playgrounds, there will be close contact and there might be possible transmission of the violations on social distancing),” he said.
